banner12.jpg It has been a few years since I have been following the BBC’s news and articles on-line. Reading the articles I could not understand BBC’s continious repetition of any issue which has got an Islamic tag over it and in most cases supporting and  even promoting Traditional Islamic values, but this promotional language has to be analysed very carefully. Nothing is said with a clear language, therefore meanings have to be looked after between the lines.

I suggest you read this article by Khosro Naghed in BBC.

The article is about the seyyed Hossian Nasr’s latest book. Nasr is a Islamic traditionalist advocating the return to self, meaning, returning to the basic Islamic ways of living and thoughts. See how clearly the writer plays with and manipulates the words in order to deploy the BBC’s promotion of traditional Islam.

I am either becoming uncle Napolean or is there a truth to this long BBC love affair with Islam?

Introducing: Golnaz Vala

me.jpg 1.red fish

From what I have been able to gather from her weblog Golnaz is a painter, web designer and much more, but what aroused my senses were her paintings; drawn from objects which are seemingly familiar with the artist herself. (familiar people and surroundings)

First view of her works reminds one of the great impressionist artist Paul Gauguin and a touch of Paul Cézanne , but this reminder exists for only a few seconds; for if her paintings are looked at with more care the viewer is able to come to  different conclusions which are of the artist’s own style and  merits.

Golnaz’s courage to use abundant amount of contrasting colours has worked in some of her work but not in all. Most of the artist’s subject-matters consists of female characters whom all share a common value between them: the essence of being ordinary; which I might add, is not an easy essence to express, but Golnaz has been able to capture and express this value to a great extend.

Golnaz is a young artist whom I believe has some way to go, but on the other hand she has been able to demonstrate her talent in color usage and her good understanding of subject-matter. In long term I hope that we can see more usage of different compositions with more subtle use of her brush techniques in her works.

I truly believe that Golnaz has something to offer to the world of arts, just wait and see.

Today the Iranian government paid the Hezbollah 750.000.000$ in cash. I wonder how-many times over we could have rebuilt the earth-quick hitten city of Bam or how-many schools or hospitals or…… could have been built. I do not remember any of our good neighbours in the region offering Iranian familes 12000$ in cash during the Iran-Iraq war. I wish the Lebanese people would have been made aware of how Iranians feel about all this.
